The Use of Occupational Therapy Assessment Tool by Occupational Therapists in Long-term Care Hospital

Abstract
Objective : The objective of this survey was to investigate assessment tools commonly used by occupational therapists working in long-term care hospital.

Method : The occupational therapists working in long-term care hospitals were extracted by convenience extraction. Survey was 19 items composed of general characteristics, information on practical task and assessment. The participants were 69 occupational therapists. Analysis of the data was done by SPSS 20.0 using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA.

Result : The most used assessment in hand function was Manual Function Test(68.1%). Cognitive and perceptual assessment was MMSE-K(94.2%) and activities in daily living assessment was Modified Barthel Index(95.7%). The most used physical test was sensory test(75.4%). The number of using assessment was different according age, salary, the number of patients and the number of bed in the hospital.

Conclusion : Trends of occupational therapists working in long care hospital was different with all occupational therapists in Korean. The number of using assessment was related to working condition. This study will be utilized as basic data for education and research on the actual situatio.
